Easter speaking – interactive activity

In this Easter speaking interactive activity students will have the opportunity to learn more about different traditions that involve Easter celebrations around the world while practicing reading for specific information and interacting through enganging questions.

I suggest this activity to be done in groups, allowing students time to research online and try to find the proper answer. To spice things up, the teacher can turn it into a competition between the groups counting points for the faster and the most accurate answers.

A possible extension of this activity is to ask students to research more about the facts that called their attention, searching for the origin and symbols of that specific tradition. I would devise it as homework so students could prepare a presentation for the next class.

I planned this lesson aiming to provide students with reading practice, especially reading for specific information, scanning, and skimming strategies. My subsidiary aim is to provide the opportunity to collaborate, discuss and reach a consensus in order to answer the questions, all essential skills in communication.

The levels could range from B1 or above, with some degree of adaptation, it could also be suitable for A2 students.

Instructions:
Share your screen in presentation or slideshow mode, ask students to choose a number. Click on the number and it will lead to a slide with a question. Give students time to search for the answer, then hit the “solution” icon. To return to the initial slide, click on the “back to main menu” icon.
Remember: don’t use the “enter” key in your keyboard to control the slides. It would lead to the next slide and not to the main menu as it is supposed to be.
